It has been a while since I’ve said something, so here’s a quick update on what’s going on with the film and why it’s not done yet (please don’t hurt me):

I’ve recently had to fire the composer as he was bogged down with other projects and hadn’t gotten anything to me in a long while.  Nice guy, it just didn’t work out.  The new composer, Nolan, is extremely excited about the project and should be a great addition to the crew.

We’re having some colorist problems, as he has not responded to my phone calls for two weeks.  My assumption is that he accidentally wiped my hard drive and is now scrambling to recast the movie with the original actors and conduct a shot-for-shot remake of MCC under my nose.

If that’s the case, we’ll just take the raw footage (which was backed up. twice. booyah.) and find a new colorist.

I’m very sorry for the project slowing down at the point where I can literally taste its completion.  But once we maneuver around these two obstacles it’s just a day’s worth of content merging and DVD creation.  Then we’re done.

We still have enough money left over in the budget for some sort of premiere.  So please don’t have died by now.  I know it has been awhile.

Mint Chocolate Chip

It’s been a little bit since you’ve heard from us, so here’s a quick update on where the film is at right now. We (Me and Stephen, the editor) have been sending the edit back and forth between one another throughout Summer.  This process has been slow and a little backburner-ish as we’ve both been working on a couple of other projects.  My apologies for that.  But with school starting up again, we’re determined to bring this project to the finish line.

We’re hoping to have a director’s cut sometime around Sunday, and from there it’s sent of to the producers (Bernard, Scott, and Taylor) for critique.  From there we reach a final cut, and then spend a day  on sound design and a day on color correction; all the while having the film scored.

Once we have the final project (which will, if we stay on top of our game, hopefully be in about a month), we’ll throw a premiere as well as package the movie up and send it out to those who helped make this project impossible along with the donation incentives.

Then, we attempt the festival circuit.

We’ll keep you all updated, so stick with us.

Sorry the site’s been a little slow for the past two weeks.  Finals week hit and then I went back home to relax (sorta) for a week.  Anyways we’re picking things up this week and going at it hard.  Expect a video update in 2 or 3 days.  Some big things are transpiring at the moment, but I don’t want to jinx it.

First of all, a big thank you to everyone who watched the live feed from the auditions.  Your comments were as helpful as they were hilarious.  We got a lot done on that day, and are in the home stretch with just over a month left before principal photography starts.  Things are coming together, people!

The rest of the cast have more or less been decided upon, but we’re all still on the fence about who had the best performance as the third lead.  So we’re letting you watch the audition videos and give your input.  To do this, you have to send me an email so that I can invite you to view the performances.  We’ll be deciding within the week, so hurry up!

A little bit about me - I’m a Screenwriting major at CSUN, but unlike most Screenwriting majors who detest sunlight, puppies, and human contact, I love to be on movie sets. I’ve worked on a good handful of senior projects and thanks to that, and an utterly hysterical and ridiculous Anatomy of Film Production class, I’ve become quite chummy with Scott and Vern and was named Key Grip to this crazy project we call MCC.

So in the credits of The Naked Gun 2½, one of the crazy credits reads: what the hell is a grip?

So…what is a grip? According to Wikipedia, the ultimate place for knowledge, a grip is a lighting and rigging technician. We set up lights, work with the Gaffer (i.e. Sparks) to make sure everything has power, and do any other manly chore assigned to us. I, as the Key Grip, am the Chief Grip, in charge of the other lowly grips…i.e. Squiggs.

Note: It also reads on the Wikipedia article - “Additionally, the key grip is frequently the safety monitor of the film set, responsible for safety of all personnel in the presence of theatrical ballistics, pyrotechnics, stunts, and any other potentially dangerous situations and devices operated by other departments. If someone working in one of these areas gets hurt under the key grip’s supervision, the key grip is fully responsible and liable.”

So I get to be Dad…hooray. But nonetheless, since none of the other crew members have posted, I figured I’d be the one to triumphantly say:

“FIRST!”
